Mantis Shrimps [Odontodactylus]
Description
Odontodactylus mantis shrimps are powerful, curious predators with striking colors and a habit of living in burrows or crevices. Divers might notice their quick, alert movements as they peer out from a hole, then vanish at the first sign of disturbance. If you’re lucky, you may catch a glimpse of their distinctive posture and behavior—these are some of the most characterful crustaceans on the reef.
