Common Stingray [Dasyatis pastinaca]
Description
The Common Stingray is a graceful, flat-bodied ray that often glides just above sandy or muddy bottoms. Divers may spot it partially buried in the substrate, then suddenly “puff” up and swim off with slow, powerful wingbeats. Look for its broad disc and the distinctive tail—especially if it’s moving through the shallows.
