Sting Rays [Dasyatidae]
Description
Dasyatid sting rays glide just above sandy or muddy bottoms, often using their wing-like pectoral fins to “walk” smoothly through the water. Divers may spot them partially buried in sand, with their eyes and spiracles visible as they cruise or feed. If you’re lucky, you’ll see them kick up small clouds of sediment while foraging.
