Dendronephthya hemprichi [Dendronephthya hemprichi]
Description
This soft coral–like organism (a gorgonian-style octocoral) often shows up as delicate, branching growth with a feathery look. Divers may notice its polyps extending to capture food from the water column, giving it a lively, “open” appearance when conditions are right. In current, it can sway gently, turning a quiet reef patch into a subtle moving display.
