Eastern Harlequin Shrimp [Hymenocera picta]
Description
This striking shrimp is famous for its bold patterning and its close relationship with sea stars. Divers may spot it perched on or near starfish, often moving slowly but deliberately as it searches for food. If you’re lucky, you’ll see it tucked into the nooks of its host, blending just enough to be noticed only when it shifts.
