Pom Pom Xenia [Xenia umbellata]

Pom Pom Xenia
Description

Xenia umbellata forms soft, branching clumps with many tiny “pom-pom” tips that can pulse in and out with the water flow. Divers love watching it respond to currents—its polyps can retract and extend, creating a rhythmic, almost waving motion. It’s a great example of how reef life can actively “breathe” with the tide.
