Tubularia antarctica [Tubularia antarctica]
Description
In colder southern waters, divers can encounter this hydroid colony as slender tubes anchored to rocks, shells, or other hard surfaces. The polyps often retract and extend with changing conditions, so the colony may look more subdued at rest and more “alive” when currents increase and feeding opportunities improve.
