Tubularia acadiae [Tubularia acadiae]
Description
Tubularia acadiae is a colonial hydroid that divers commonly encounter as many slender, tube-like stems rising from the substrate. Each tube can extend and retract slightly, and the colony may look like a small cluster of delicate “straws” or feathery points. In good visibility, it can be surprisingly striking—especially when the tubes are fully extended in the current.
