Spiny chiton [Belknapchiton aequispinus]

Spiny chiton
Description

On rocky reefs and boulder fields, this chiton clings tightly to the substrate, its shell plates looking like overlapping armor. Divers may notice a slightly spiny or bristly texture along the shell edges, especially when it’s partially exposed in crevices.
