Chitons (Lepidopleura & relatives) [Lepidopleurida]
Description
On rocky bottoms and reef crevices, divers may spot armored, oval “little tanks” clinging to the substrate—chitons are tough grazers with overlapping shell plates. Their slow crawling and strong grip make them easy to notice when you look closely at rocks and tide pools.
