Rugose starfish [Pteraster rugosus]
Description
Pteraster rugosus is known for its bumpy, wrinkled surface that helps it blend into rocky environments. Divers may encounter it on hard bottoms where it remains relatively still, then gradually shifts position using its tube feet. Its textured arms and subdued coloration make it a great “look closer” species.
