Velatid Sea Urchins [Velatida]
Description
Divers may spot these sea urchins clinging to rocky slopes and crevices, often with a distinctive, “velvety” look from their spines. They’re usually most noticeable when they’re slowly grazing on algae and biofilm along the substrate.
