Rounded Bubblegum Coral [Plerogyra diabolotus]
Description
Divers often spot this coral as a rounded, cushion-like colony made of thick, bubble-like polyps. At rest, the surface can look smooth and “puffy,” and when conditions are right the polyps extend slightly, giving it a lively, textured look. It’s a great species to slow down for—its shape and subtle color variations stand out in reef crevices and slopes.
