Pteraster affinis [Pteraster affinis]
Description
Pteraster affinis is a starfish that tends to blend into rocky bottoms, where its shape and surface texture help it disappear among crevices. When you get close, the arms and body can look finely patterned, making it stand out from smooth substrate. Divers may see it stationary for long periods, then slowly adjusting its position.
