Pteraster abyssorum [Pteraster abyssorum]
Description
Divers may spot this sea star as a low, slow-moving starfish clinging to rocky or deep, darker seabed habitats. Its arms are typically broad and textured, giving it a sturdy, “star-shaped” look as it blends into the substrate. In good visibility, you can sometimes see it slowly repositioning its grip as it feeds.
