Parthenopea australis [Parthenopea australis]

Description

A deep-water relative of the more familiar swimming crabs, this species is typically encountered on or near the seafloor rather than in open water. Divers who find it may spot a compact, crab-like silhouette tucked close to the substrate, where it blends in with the surrounding habitat.
