Obelia striata [Obelia striata]
Description
Divers may spot this delicate hydroid as small, branching colonies that form feathery tufts on rocks, pilings, or other hard surfaces. Up close, it can look like a fine lacework, with tiny structures along the branches that give the colony its “striped” look. It’s usually subtle and easy to overlook—until you slow down and watch the fine details.
