Millepora latifolia [Millepora latifolia]
Description
This species typically forms broad, plate-like or lobe-like growths that spread over hard substrate. Underwater, divers may see a crisp, coral-like surface with fine texture and small raised areas where polyps are embedded. It’s a great example of how “coral” can look like a plant or sheet, but it’s still a stinging animal—avoid brushing against it.
