Milleporidae [Milleporidae]
Description
Milleporidae are commonly known as fire corals, and divers may notice their rough, coral-like surfaces growing on reefs, boulders, or hard substrates. They can form branching or encrusting patches, and while they look like true corals, they’re hydrozoans—so avoid contact, as their stinging cells can cause painful irritation.
