Millepora braziliensis [Millepora braziliensis]
Description
Divers may encounter Millepora braziliensis as a coral-like hydrozoan that grows as encrusting sheets or small, branching forms. Its texture can stand out against surrounding rock or sand, especially when light catches the colony’s surface. As with other fire corals, it’s best admired from a distance because contact can cause a painful sting.
