Marbled Electric Ray [Torpedo marmorata]
Description
Divers may spot this ray cruising close to the seafloor, its mottled “marbled” pattern helping it blend into sandy or muddy habitats. If it feels threatened, it can bury itself or hold position while using its electric organs for defense, often remaining calm and unhurried as you pass.
