Leptochiton algesirensis [Leptochiton algesirensis]
Description
This chiton species is usually encountered as a small, tightly attached animal on rocky bottoms. Divers may see it as a compact, armored shape that blends with the surrounding rock and algae. Because it feeds on surface growth, it’s often found where currents bring nutrients and where the substrate supports a thin film of life.
