Leptochiton alascensis [Leptochiton alascensis]
Description
This small chiton is a classic “rock grazer,” typically found attached to hard substrates where algae and microorganisms grow. Underwater, divers may spot its low, streamlined body hugging the rock, often with subtle texture that helps it camouflage. It’s most noticeable when you look closely at the edges of rocks and tide-swept areas.
