Lepas (Lepas) pectinata [Lepas (Lepas) pectinata]
Description
You may encounter this goose barnacle attached to floating objects, where it forms a neat, shell-like silhouette against the substrate. When it’s feeding, the cirri extend like tiny combs to trap plankton from the passing water. Divers often notice it most when they’re close to the drifting material it’s living on.
