Kemp’s cleaner shrimp [Lysmata kempi]

Kemp’s cleaner shrimp
Description

Kemp’s cleaner shrimp is a charismatic reef resident that divers may see stationed on rocks, coral heads, or in the entrances of crevices. Fish frequently approach it as if “checking in,” and the shrimp responds with cleaning behavior—moving over the fish to remove tiny parasites and debris. If you’re lucky, you’ll witness a full cleaning interaction right in front of your mask.
