Hochi cleaner shrimp [Lysmata hochi]
Description
Divers may spot this small, colorful cleaner shrimp perched on rocks or among coral rubble, often keeping a tidy “station” where fish come to investigate. When a passing fish pauses nearby, the shrimp may perform quick cleaning movements, picking at tiny parasites and dead tissue. Look for it in crevices and on the undersides of ledges where it feels secure.
