Heterocarpus vicarius [Heterocarpus vicarius]

A deep-water relative of the nylon shrimp, this species is typically encountered on slopes or sandy bottoms where currents bring food. Divers who spot it may see a small, semi-translucent shrimp that stays close to the substrate, occasionally darting or drifting with the flow.
