Gorgonia clathrus [Gorgonia clathrus]
Description
Gorgonia clathrus is a fan-like gorgonian that divers commonly encounter on rocky bottoms and slopes. Its branching network can look lacy and intricate, and the colony often sways slightly with the water flow. Look closely and you may see the polyps arranged along the branches, giving the “net” a subtle, animated texture.
