Flower sea star [Pteraster florifer]
Description
This species is named for its “flower-like” appearance—its arms can look fringed or feathery, giving it a striking, ornamental look on the seafloor. Divers may find it resting on hard substrate where it blends with the surrounding reef texture. Up close, the surface details and arm structure are what really catch the eye.
