Eunicella papillifera [Eunicella papillifera]

Description

This gorgonian is recognizable by its textured, “papillated” look, with polyps giving the branches a slightly bumpy appearance. Divers may see it waving in the flow, extending and retracting its feeding polyps as water moves past. The colony’s structure creates a mini-habitat where tiny crustaceans and small schooling fish often linger.
