Dardanus vulnerans [Dardanus vulnerans]
Description
This hermit crab is a bottom-dweller that divers may encounter near rocky substrates and coral rubble. Look for a shell-carrying crab that scuttles into cracks when disturbed, then resumes foraging along the substrate. Its presence is often subtle, but patient divers can catch it actively searching for food.
