Boulder Brain Coral [Colpophyllia natans]
Description
The Boulder brain coral is known for its large polyps and heavy calcified skeleton. It is quite large, often forming colonies several meters across. It is often found in shallow waters and prefers calm areas such as lagoons. It is commonly found in the Caribbean, the Gulf of Mexico, and the western Atlantic Ocean.
