Belknapchiton simplex is a small, low-slung chiton that clings to hard surfaces like rocks and boulders. Divers often spot it as a neatly armored, slightly oval patch along the substrate, blending in with the surrounding texture. With patience, you may notice it slowly shifting its grip as it grazes on microalgae.
