Bearded Shark [Orectolobus japonicus]
Description
Divers may spot this wobbegong-like shark resting on the seafloor, often perfectly camouflaged against sand and rock. Its distinctive “beard” of fleshy barbels around the mouth can be seen up close as it patrols or waits for prey. With patience, you may catch it slowly shifting position, blending in until it suddenly becomes noticeable.
