Bate’s cleaner shrimp [Periclimenes batei]
Description
This species is a common sight around reef habitats where small crustaceans and fish activity draw attention. Divers may see it hovering near crevices or along reef surfaces, sometimes appearing to “clean” or pick at tiny particles. Its quick, darting movements make it easy to miss—until you slow down and watch the edges of shelters.
