White Slime Star [Pteraster tesselatus]
Description
The White Slime Star is a species of starfish native to the northwest Atlantic Ocean. It often inhabits sandy and muddy bottoms at depths ranging from 37 to 1,300 meters. This species has a white or cream body with a diameter of up to 10 centimeters. It's known for its ability to produce a cloud of slimy secretion when disturbed.
