Atlantic Manta Ray [Mobula yarae]
Description
Divers may spot the Atlantic manta ray cruising with slow, powerful wingbeats, often gliding just above sandy or rocky bottoms. When it feeds, it can gather plankton in a sweeping arc, sometimes with a brief flurry of activity as it filters the water. Look for its broad, manta-like silhouette and the distinctive cephalic fins that help funnel food.
