Flameback Coral Shrimp [Stenopus pyrsonotus]
Description
This shrimp gets its name from its striking coloration, which can look like a bright “flame” against the reef. Divers may notice it perched near coral branches or in sheltered reef spaces, often moving with quick, deliberate bursts. When disturbed, it typically retreats into its hiding spot, then reappears once the area is calm.
