Squarrose hermit crab [Dardanus squarrosus]
Description
This hermit crab is often seen in habitats with plenty of cover, where it can retreat quickly if disturbed. Divers might spot it as a compact, textured crab moving along the bottom, sometimes with a shell that makes it look like part of the seafloor’s own architecture.
