Aglaophenia calamus [Aglaophenia calamus]

Description

Aglaophenia calamus forms slender, upright or gently arcing colonies that can resemble fine sea fans or quills. Divers may notice the polyps arranged along the branches, giving the colony a lively, dotted look as water movement brings it to life. It’s typically found in areas with steady currents where it can efficiently capture food.
