Aglaophenia acacia [Aglaophenia acacia]
Description
This hydroid can look like a miniature, branching “sea tree,” with many fine offshoots that sway gently with the current. Divers often find it on rocks, wrecks, or other hard bottoms where it can form attractive, lacy patterns. With a bit of patience, you can see the colony’s structure clearly and appreciate how it captures food from the water.
