Branching Fire Coral [Millepora alcicornis]
Description
Divers often spot this fire coral as a branching, antler-like structure that can form dense, upright thickets. Its surface may look smooth or slightly textured, and it ranges in color from pale yellow to brownish tones depending on light and water conditions. Despite its coral-like appearance, it’s a stinging hydrozoan—so touching it is a bad idea.
