Organ pipe coral [Tubipora rubeola]
Description
Organ pipe coral is famous for its bold, pipe-like tubes that can range from deep red to reddish-purple. Divers see it as a dramatic, sculptural colony—often anchored to the reef and extending upward like a miniature organ. Depending on the water flow and light, the tube openings may show subtle movement as polyps respond to the current.
