Rounded Bubblegum Coral [Plerogyra simplex]
Description
As its name suggests, Plerogyra simplex often presents a simpler, more uniform rounded colony. The bubble-like polyps create a soft, textured appearance that can be surprisingly striking in clear water. Divers may observe the colony’s gentle pulsing or slight changes in polyp extension as it responds to light and current.
