Solitary Disk Coral [Scolymia wellsii]
Description
This coral looks like a single, thick disk or low mound anchored to the seafloor. When conditions are right, its surface can show a distinct pattern of ridges and small protrusions that give it a “puckered” or velvety texture. Divers may notice it quietly holding its ground in crevices or on rocky bottoms, often with a calm, understated presence.
