Lepas beringiana [Lepas (Lepas) beringiana]
Description
This goose barnacle is commonly found on floating objects in cooler waters, where divers can encounter it on lines, buoys, or natural rafts. From below, you’ll often see the barnacle’s stalked, conical shell with its feeding fan extended. The cirri move rhythmically to sweep plankton from the surrounding water.
