Bathyalis shrimp [Periclimenes bathyalis]
Description
As its name suggests, this shrimp is typically associated with deeper-water environments, so it’s most likely encountered on deeper dives or in areas with steep drop-offs. Divers may notice it as a small, pale shrimp perched near the seafloor or close to benthic structures. When disturbed, it tends to retreat swiftly into nearby cover.
