Parthenopea subterranea [Parthenopea subterranea]

Description

As its name suggests, this crab is associated with more sheltered, bottom-dwelling environments—often where it can hide from strong light and currents. Divers may encounter it when it briefly emerges from crevices or along the seafloor, then quickly retreats when approached.
