Leptochiton albemarlensis [Leptochiton albemarlensis]
Description
Leptochiton albemarlensis is a cryptic grazer that tends to stay close to the substrate, making it easy to miss at first glance. Divers who slow down and scan rock faces carefully may find it in small patches where biofilm and algae are available. Its appearance is typically understated, but it’s a great example of how much life hides in plain sight on the seafloor.
