Ribbed Chiton [Lepidopleurus cajetanus]

Ribbed Chiton
Description

Ribbed chitons are often seen clinging firmly to rocky surfaces, where their armor-like plates blend into the stone. Divers may notice the distinctive ridged texture along the shell, and how the animal holds on even in surge. With luck, you can spot them tucked into crevices or slowly grazing on the biofilm on the rock.
